Ronald Lee Nelson, 80, of Herminie, passed away peacefully, Monday, Feb. 17, 2025 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born March 9, 1944 in Greensburg, son of Sara (Nelson) Foti of Greensburg and the late Joseph Foti. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Catherine Absten.
Prior to his retirement Ron was a self-employed carpenter. He loved woodworking and made so many pieces of beautiful furniture over the years, in his spare time.
He was a member of The Church in Sutersville. He enjoyed line-dancing, going out to eat and watching TV. He also loved to fish and hunt in his younger years.
Ron is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Karen (Weigand) Nelson; his son, Steven R. (Carrie) Nelson of New Stanton and step-son, Kerry (Wendy) Reed of Derry and his daughter, Deana (Rich) Weber of Sharon, PA; four special grandchildren, Caitlin (Venti) Cozart, Emily (Jason) Stegman, Kristian Nelson and Dakota Carroll; three special great-grandchildren, Keaton, Viona and Crue Cozart; two brothers, Patsy (Mary) Foti of Greensburg and Vinny Foti of Florida; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. He is also survived by his loving caregiver.
Ron will be dearly missed by his family, friends and neighbors. The family would like to thank Advantage Hospice for all their love and support.
Friends will be received from 2 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2025 at The Church, 1683 Mars Hill Road, Sutersville, PA , 15083. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 20th, 2025 at The Church. in Sutersville. Interment will follow in West Newton Cemetery. JOSEPH W.
