Lavona G. (Barnett) Bowlin

Born November 26, 1925  •  Went to be with our Lord on October 26, 2022

Lavona G. (Barnet) Bowlin, Age 96 of Monroeville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 26, 2022. Born on November 26, 1925 in St. Joseph, Missouri, she was the daughter of Royal L. and Effie Mae (Morgan) Barnett. Beloved husband of the late Charles Bowlin. Loving mother of Shari Raymond. Devoted grandmother to Richard and Chanda Raymond; and great-grandmother to Zachary, Jordan, and Samantha Raymond, all of Genoa City, Wisconsin. Also survived by her brother, Royal M. Barnett.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Hazel Estes.

Lavona was an active member of “The Church” Sutersville/Rilton Road in Sutersville, PA, which was a very special church that she and her husband Charles searched for, for 10 years. Lavona loved to both cook and sing, since as long as anyone can remember. Most of all she loved being a wife and a supporter of her husband Charles who loved to teach and preach about the Lord. She moved to Monroeville in 1958 and joined Saint Martin’s Episcopal Church, where she became very involved with the church and the work of the Lord. Being in charge of the kitchen for seven years and leading the worship service at the Prayer and Praise meetings they held on Tuesday nights was a great joy for her. Lavona had a special relationship with the Lord and loved to sing and worship Him. She taught herself to play the guitar and wrote a number of Christian songs. Lavona led worship at the Bible Study and Prayer Group Meetings that she and her husband had in their home every week for 25 years. She also traveled with her husband as he went out to speak and minister, often doing the special music. He decided she should make some tapes, CD’s and join music groups, which she did and became quite active in ministering for the Lord. She loved all people and was always ready to hug them and pray for their needs. She will fit right in, in heaven.

Services will be private and are entrusted to the JOBE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, INC. (MONROEVILLE/PLUM CHAPEL) 445 Beatty Road, Monroeville (412-856-4747). www.jobefuneralhome.com.
