Catherine Rose (Cunningham) Chillinsky, age 92, of Jeannette left this world to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Wednesday, February 21, 2024.
Catherine was preceded in death by her parents George and Katherine M. (Mueller) Cunningham; her husband Robert J. Chillinsky; her infant sons John, Harry, Larry, and adult children William Chillinsky; and Judith (Lloyd) Chillinsky; an infant granddaughter Sophia; her siblings Robert (Kay) Cunningham, Virginia (Harry) Zaspel, Paul (Joan) Cunningham, Thomas (Sue) Cunningham; her stepmother Madge; and her stepbrother Jacob Diehl.
Catherine is survived by her children James (Mary) Chillinsky, Thomas (Marianne) Chillinsky, Elizabeth (Walter) Czekanski, Louis (Beth) Chillinsky and Robert Chillinsky; 9 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter and her half-sister Georgene Bodnar.
Catherine had to raise seven children on her own after her husband died in June of 1969. To support her family, she took a job in Pittsburgh as a housekeeper and was dedicated to her employer for 20 years. Always looking to make a better life for her children, she learned to drive in her 40’s and moved the family out of the city and into a new home in Irwin. At the age of 59, she took a job with the US Postal Service in Pittsburgh where she worked for 18 years, until her retirement at the age of 78. As a strong Christian woman, she always put her trust in God for everything. Her faith in the Lord saw her through many of life’s obstacles and hard times. She always had hope and never gave up. Her family and friends loved her very much and she will be dearly missed by all.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday February 28, 2024, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM in the Ott Funeral Home Inc., 805 Pennsylvania Ave., Irwin 724-863-8900. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 AM in the Ott Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Penn-Lincoln Memorial Park, North Huntingdon.
